Bus Priority Lane kicks off in Bengaluru: List of new one-ways, traffic diversions:

On Friday, The Bengaluru police have notified the bus priority lanes along Outer Ring Road after the project was launched in the morning. In order to facilitate the Bus priority lane program, The Bengaluru Police Commissioner Bhasker Rao also notified certain stretches as one way.

The main purpose of this Bus priority lane is to create importance for the use of public transport, especially for BMTC (Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation) buses. The project was kick-started along ORR (Outer Ring Road) between Silk Board and KR Puram.

This Outer Ring Road is separated physically by steel bollards. Bengaluru Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao on Friday state that on this Outer Ring Road only BMTC Buses will be allowed on the stretch. He also added that along with BMTC Buses ambulances and Fire engines will be allowed to ply on the stretch from Silk Board to KR Puram that is marked as a bus priority lane.

Commissioner Bhaskar Rao also stated that, “according to Section 115 of the Indian Motor Vehicle Act the state government has the power to restrict the use of vehicles on roads or bridges and according to IPC section 188 (disobedience to an order by a public authority) shall mean imprisonment for a term up to six months or a fine up to Rs 1,000 or maybe both.”

Commissioner Bhaskar Rao also stated that traffic diversions in KR Puram, HAL, HSR Layout and Madiwala police station limits. The order stated that thise Bus priority lanes planned by BMTC (Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation), BBMP ( Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike), Traffic Police and Directorate of Urban Land Transport are meant to reduce traffic congestion. The rules also implemented strictly and deploy police personnel depending on the number and frequency of buses.

Now passengers can travel from south to north from MArathathalli Bridge to HDFC Home Loan Building. Those wishing to travel from north to south along this stretch should take the service road and reach the median near HDFC Home Loan Building, that connects to the Kartik Nagar junction and then have to take U- turn to go towards Marathahalli Bridge.

Commuters going from Marathahalli Bridge to the E-Zone night club can travel only in the north-south direction. Commuters have to take the service road and go through the Marathahalli Bridge and reach Kartik Nagar bus stop, where the stretch connects the main road.

From E-Zone to Zeevika Hospital, passengers can travel only in the north-south direction. Passengers traveling in the opposite direction will have to turn right at Jeevika Hospital and reach the service road to Kartik Nagar Bus stop, where the stretch connects the main road.

Passengers traveling from Kadubeesanahalli to Marathahalli Bridge cannot use the Outer ring road as it is built in a way. Passenger will have to take the service road and reach the Kadubeesaahalli bridge and make a U-turn to reach the main road.

The passenger going from south to north along the Kadubeesaahalli – Devarabeesanahalli Road must take the service road and take a U-turn at Devarabeesanahalli junction and then reach the Kadubeesaahalli via the Outer Ring Road.

Passengers can only travel in the south-north directions on the service road between Kadubeesanahalli and Marathahalli Bridge. Those traveling in the opposite directions will have to make a U- turn on the Marathahalli Bridge and then have to take the service road to reach Kadubeesanahalli.

Passenger can only travel east to west between Silk Board to 14th Main Road, Silk Board junction to Agara and Agarato Iblur Bus stop.

The Motorist can be allowed to commute in the north-south direction using the road from Iblur to Ecospace Flyover. Those traveling the ramp flyover from Iblur Lake to Ecospace can only go in the north-south direction.
