Maharashtra Assembly Election Result 2019

Elections held on 21st October'19 and result announced on 24th October'19 where BJP emerged as single largest party. Pre-Poll alliance between NDA alliance's BJP and ShivSena have achieved them victory despite both parties secured lesser seats when compared to last elections. Both the parties shared seats and released their own election manifestos. Out of total 288 assembly seats, 145 is the magic figure to form government.

Total Seats: 288(Magic Figure: 145).
BJP: 105
ShivSena: 56
Congress: 44
NCP: 54
Independents: 13
Bahujan Vikas Aaghadi: 3
AIMIM: 2
Prahar Janshakti Party: 2
Samajwadi Party: 2
Sawbhimani Pakasha: 1
Rashtriya Samaj Paksha: 1
Peasants and Workers Party of India: 1
Maharashtra Navnirman Sena :1
Krantikari Shekari Party: 1
Jan Surajya Shakti: 1
CPI(Marxist): 1

Though the NDA has surpassed magic figure 145 but struggling to form government as each party is expecting CM chair. 29 years young dynamic leader Aditya Thackeray is the first person to contest elections from Thackeray family and won with bumper majority. ShivSena MLA's, party workers are willing to see Aditya as CM at least for 2.5 years which is half term. This point has put BJP in trouble who are not ready to share CM seat but are ready to offer Deputy CM seat for full five years. The political drama is going on in Maharasthra for CM seat in between Aditya Thackeray and Devendra Fadnavis.

In 2014, BJP won 122 seats where they've contest in 260 assembly segments with a strike rate of 47% but this time in 2019 because of alliance with ShivSena they've contested only 150 seats and won 105 with a strike rate of 70%. Though contested in less number of least BJP had won over 100 seats. About 3 to 8 independent candidates who won this time are ready to support BJP in forming the government. BJP requires either ShivSena or NCP support to form government but not possible in any other way as they won't seek support from their lifetime rival Congress.

On the other hand ShivSena has started talks with NCP and Congress to form government which can be absolutely possible. ShivSena will reach 154 seats if they seek support from Congress and NCP. ShivSena has two chances whether to take support from BJP and take Deputy CM seat for 5 years or take support from Congress and NCP and have CM seat for 5 years. If not ShivSena, BJP has the possibility of taking support from NCP and they'll reach 159+ seats to form government.

President Rule Imposed in Maharashtra on 12th November 2019: Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, first invited BJP to stake claim but BJP didn't step ahead as they're not confident on the magic figure. Then Governor invited ShivSena to form government and had given a day time to get clarity on this but ShivSena failed to do so. Finally Governor asked NCP to form government but even NCP failed to form government under the given time. Governor recommended President rule in Maharashtra and was approved immediately by President Ramnath Kovind.

Ajit Pawar supported BJP with this effect Fadnavis took oath on 23rd November'19 and resigned on 26th November'19 as NDA alliance did not had the magic figure, Ajit Pawar was given Deputy CM post. Sharad Pawar managed to hold his MLAs and pulled those a few who were following Ajit Pawar. Couple of days ago even Prime Minister Modi was confident on Fadnavis and twitted that BJP will have government for five years in Maharashtra but it did not execute at all. ShivSena chief Uddhav Thackarey supposed to be the next CM and he will be backed by NCP and INC.

Uddhav Thackarey is New CM of Maharashtra: On 28th Nov'19 Uddhav Thackarey took oath as CM of Maharasthra putting an end to high level political drama.
